Children's Sunday School...9:30 to 10:30 AM

It is through Sunday school that we gain in knowledge, spirit and fellowship. As we learn to know and love God, we also learn to love others.

Children of all ages have the opportunity to be with their peers in a small group-learning environment. Our teachers are all volunteers that are committed to investing in our children with love, time, and prayers, while equipping them to live their daily lives in a Christian manner.

In a rotational learning setting, the same Bible story or theme is taught for one month. Each week, learners rotate to a different station. The story remains the same, but children encounter the message in different ways. Repetition is an important part of the process. When children explore a passage or concept through activity or through their different senses, the story is reinforced in their memories.  The variety of experiences keeps interest high throughout the unit. Teachers teach the same lesson, with age-level adjustments, for the length of the rotation. Shepherds accompany the children in each class through the different rotations each month.

Our "Village" has the following rotations:

"Thou Art" (Arts & Science) - Room 215

"HIStory" (Drama/Storytelling) - Room 214

"Creation Station" (Cooking) - Room 213

"Gospel Games" (Bible Trivia & Games) - Room 212

 "Scripture Pictures" (Video/Media/Music) - Room 211

Look for GRADE signage outside of each of these classrooms...to find your way!

6th Grade!

Upstairs in the "Cameron" Building (B) - Room 2-218

6th Graders will use the "Live Big" Curriculum in a traditional Sunday School format.

6th Graders participate in CONFIRMATION CLASSES from January - April, 2010.  Watch for information as we get closer!

Parents are required to sign their children in and out of the classroom.
No child is allowed to leave the classroom without a parent signature.

Children's Church...during 11 AM Worship!

Children's Church at FUMC Rockwall...
Children’s Church offers our children a meaningful way to worship in a service that is specifically designed for them. Volunteers, staff, and clergy are committed to providing a solid worship foundation for participants by exposure to our United Methodist heritage, our liturgy, our liturgical seasons, and the importance and meaning of baptism and Communion.

During the 11:00 am worship service, all children ages 3 through 2nd Grade are invited to participate in Children’s Church.

WeeWorship!
Ages 3—5 years (Children may join as soon as they turn 3, are potty-trained, and will participate willingly)
Upstairs, Main Building, "The ROCK"

KidzWorship!
Completed Kindergarten—2nd Grade
Upstairs, Main Building, "The ROCK"

Following the “Sharing the Gospel Time” during the 11:00am worship service, all children ages 3 through 2nd Grade are invited to go to WeeWorship or KidzWorship!  They will be escorted to the appropriate classroom by Staff and Volunteers!

Children’s Church is not offered on the first Sunday of each month in observance of Holy Communion.

All children who participate in Children’s Church will be released into the sanctuary prior to the closing hymn.  Children are always welcome in the worship services at First United Methodist Church of Rockwall.

Acolytes - Bringing the Light of Christ...
Acolyte means "follower" or "attendant”...

Our Acolyte Program is open to all trained 3rd—5th graders and is an important role within our church. A training session is scheduled each Fall. Acolytes are responsible for bringing the light of Jesus Christ into the sanctuary. They assist the ushers with the offering and then remove the light from the sanctuary at the end of the worship service.

Acolyte Training  - Sunday, August 30th at Noon

Acolyte "Make-up" Training - Sunday, September 27th at Noon
