Lenten Devotionals

Click Below for Each Day of Devotionals

Lent is a season of the Christian Year where Christians focus on simple living, prayer, and fasting in order to grow closer to God. It's the forty days  before Easter. Lent excludes Sundays because every Sunday is like a little Easter. Ash Wednesday is the start of Lent and it continues through the Saturday before Easter. Hopefully the Devotionals below can help you create a more holy Lent.

Special Lenten Bible Study Opportunities ~

Shadows of Darkness and Dawn

Time: Wednesdays, 6-7:30PM
beginning Mar. 1
Cost: $20
Facilitators: Rev. Joe Pool and Rev. Jenna Morrison (
Location: First UMC Rockwall

In Shadows, Darkness and Dawn, pastor Thomas Steagald, has carefully chosen six stories from the Gospel of John, to help readers examine their own shadows, their confessions whispered in the darkness, and the power of Christ's regenerating love to bring freedom from sin and the fear of darkness. Offers six weeks of daily readings to facilitate Lenten reflection.

Praying In Color

Time: Sundays, 4-5PM
beginning March 5
Cost: $13 for books, extra supplies required
Facilitator: Joan Wells (
Location: TBA

Ladies, learn and practice a new spiritual discipline during the Lenten Season! You do not have to be an artist to love this class; just bring a box of colored pencils, a black roller point pen, and a willingness to try something new with your prayer life! Slowing down isn’t easy in our culture where stimulation and constant virtual connection are the norm. If you find the transition from busyness to stillness difficult, follow with us to a slower, more contemplative pace through coloring as prayer as spiritual practice.
