Boy Scout Troop 83
Meeting Place: First United Methodist Church of Rockwall (Bldg. A, 1st floor, Multi-purpose room)
Meeting Time: Monday nights at 7 PM. Meetings typically last 90 minutes.
Welcoming new young men wanting to have fun, develop leadership skills, have fun, live responsibly, have fun, and have fun.
Troop 83 camps out at least once a month. Long-term camps such Winter Camp and Summer Camp are always on the schedule.
Troop 83 has an active Trail to First Class program for new scouts.
Experienced Assistant Scoutmasters assist new scouts in learning basic skills and help them advance.
High adventure camping is available after basic skills are learned and the boys get a little older.
Campouts last year included opportunities for canoeing, rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, shooting, archery, sports, and much more….
Troop members are active contributors to our local community. Food drives, blood drives, and other service projects are commitments made annually by the youth leaders of Troop 83.
Because of an active program of camping, meetings, and merit badge instruction, boys have ample opportunities to advance in rank. Over the last five years, Troop 83 has averaged producing seven Eagle Scouts each year. Many Eagle Scouts are still active in the program.
