Susan Robb’s Bio

Susan grew up in a small farming community outside Waco, Texas, attended Kilgore College and danced with the Kilgore Rangerettes before completing her Bachelor of Science degree in Education at Baylor University.

She taught at the high school level for several years until her marriage to Ike and the subsequent birth of their two children, Caroline and James.

Susan and Ike joined Highland Park UMC, Susan teases, while they were still shaking the rice out of their hair from their wedding 34 years ago, and became actively involved in the life of the church. She felt God’s call to ministry, and began working on her Master of Divinity degree at Perkins School of Theology in 2000.  She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Perkins with an award in Homiletics.

Until her retirement this past June, Susan was on staff at HPUMC for 20 years, serving in the Missions and Outreach department, College Ministry, Adult Ministries, as Director of Adult Sunday Morning Classes, as Executive Minister for 7 years, and finally, as Senior Associate Minister and Pastor to the Cox Chapel Community.

In her spare time Susan loves writing and teaching bible studies, doing most anything with her family, and working with her St. Bernard therapy dog, Maggie, or St. Maggie as she is affectionately known.

Susan is the author of Called: Hearing and Responding to God’s Voice, and Seven Words: Listening to Christ from the Cross. She is currently working on a new book for Advent 2022, The Angels of Christmas: Hearing God’s Voice in Advent. Thank you for helping her hone her message for this new book study.
