Facilitator: Rev. Christina Hildebrand
6 week study | 5:30-7 PM | Connection Center
Paperback available on Amazon $14.00
While we may know the Bible stories of Israel’s military leaders, kings, and prophets, we are often less familiar with the stories of the women who helped to establish a monarchy, defend Israel’s interests, and reflect God’s image in unique ways. Women in the Old Testament, Part Two, explores stories of women of the Bible such as Judith and Esther, whose complexities and gifts broke stereotypes and continue to reveal God to us.

Freeing Jesus: Rediscovering Jesus as Friend, Teacher, Savior, Lord, Way, and Presence by Diana Butler Bass
Facilitator: Abbey Weaver
6:30-7:30 PM | Room 123, Building B
Paperback available on Amazon $15.99
How can you still be a Christian?
This is the most common question Diana Butler Bass is asked today. It is a question that many believers ponder as they wrestle with disappointment and disillusionment in their church and its leadership. But while many Christians have left their churches, they cannot leave their faith behind.
In Freeing Jesus, Bass challenges the idea that Jesus can only be understood in static, one-dimensional ways and asks us to instead consider a life where Jesus grows with us and helps us through life’s challenges in several capacities: as Friend, Teacher, Savior, Lord, Way, and Presence.
Freeing Jesus is an invitation to leave the religious wars behind and rediscover Jesus in all his many manifestations, to experience Jesus beyond the narrow confines we have built around him. It renews our hope in faith and worship at a time when we need it most.
Wednesdays, February 11–April 1 (except March 17)

Priscilla will explore six characteristics that help you tune your heart to hear God’s voice: relationship, holiness, attentiveness, single-minded worship, hunger, and a servant’s spirit. God desires to speak to you through His Word and His Holy Spirit. By learning to listen to God's voice and committing to obey Him, you will draw closer to God with a deeper desire to serve Him faithfully.

Jesus’ Reference to the Old Testament Scriptures
Facilitator:  Rev. Joe Pool
7-8 PM | Room 109, Building B | Childcare Available
Materials needed:  Please bring a Bible and notepad. Pre-registration requested but not necessary
Jesus often quoted passages from the Old Testament in public and private settings. Jesus quotes scripture in the temple in Jerusalem, on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, in the synagogues, and even on the cross. Why? How often? Context? What was Jesus trying to communicate? How does it influence our modern day understanding of Jesus? Jesus enhanced his teachings by drawing on the words of the prophets, psalms, and more. A fascinating dive into the source material on which Jesus relied to link himself to the timeless word of God.
