Prayer, scripture, and a sermon are always a part of each of our worship services.
Music also plays an important role in our traditional worship services.
Hymns are sung from the United Methodist Hymnal, and a wide variety of music can be heard throughout the year. Adaptations of hymns, gospel, classical, and contemporary Christian music accompanied by choirs,  handbells, orchestras, drums, brass, pipe organ, or piano may be a part of the musical presentation on any given Sunday.

Communion is offered weekly during the 8:30 AM service and on the first Sunday of each month during the 11 AM service. The United Methodist communion table is an open table, offered to all who seek a relationship with Jesus Christ, regardless of age or church membership.

The Open Door community offers a relaxed environment designed for families and friends of all ages to gather together to worship every week. We offer coffee and refreshments every Sunday as well as activity bags for children. At Open Door Worship, we are casual about everything except our faith. We strive to be authentic and compassionate with one another as we journey together. The door is always open, and everyone is welcome.

At the First United Methodist Church of Rockwall, every child that comes through our doors and into our hearts is a treasured gift from God and a vital member of our faith community. We are committed to providing a warm, welcoming environment and meaningful spiritual formation for children and teens through worship.

Children are always welcome in worship.

We believe that children’s participation in worship is important to their spiritual formation. When children worship with adults, they are empowered to develop a sense
of belonging to a faith community. The gift of children engaged in worship encourages each of us to examine how we engage in worship, our faith, and with one another. Children remind us there is not only one way or a right way to worship, and challenge us to be open to the spontaneity of the Holy Spirit. Children remind us that God is present in the messiness of our lives, giving us opportunity to re-examine the meaning of sacred and holy. Sharing the Gospel with Children is a special part of each service.
Special Accommodations
- Creation Kids Worship Bags are available for children during worship. Each bag contains crayons, coloring pages, and other resources to help them fully participate in worship. Bags are located outside of the Sanctuary and near the hospitality table in the Worship Center.
- Each service has a "Children's Time," where the pastor invites all of the children in attendance down to the front for a brief message. This is typically after the first two worship songs and before the community prayer.
- Alternatively, nursery care is available for children, 5 and under, during all Sunday services.
